Lower Macungie Township, an Aaa-rated municipality in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Director of Finance to replace the incumbent who is retiring in this year. The Director of Finance serves as the chief financial officer for the Township and reports directly to the Township Manager. The position oversees all financial operations with a primary focus on AP, AR, payroll, cash and investment management, utility billing, budget development and management, accounting, financial reporting, and asset inventory. Lower Macungie Township has a 2025 General Fund budget of roughly $14 million and a total 2025 budget of roughly $43 million when combining all eight governmental and enterprise funds. The Township has 46 full-time employees, approximately two-thirds of which are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in public administration, business administration, finance, accounting or a related field is required along with a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, a background in municipal finance, experience with fund accounting and GASB standards, and a relevant certification (CPFO, CGFM, or CPA).
The starting salary range for this position is $95,000 - $115,000. Lower Macungie Township offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, and a generous defined contribution pension plan.
